In March, I had the chance to photograph this beautiful destination wedding in Thailand, more exactly at the Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort on the Koh Samui island. It was a destination wedding uniting distant cultures, and very elegant that I particularly enjoyed photographing. Firstly because I love Thailand and secondly because I love destination weddings. So I was very happy. Two beautiful lovers, an incredible decoration, a beautiful resort, sand, palm trees, sea, sun, here is everything I promise you in this new article.

Back to Thailand to photograph a destination wedding

After the crazy summer period of weddings in France, on the French Riviera, autumn has arrived, then winter, with its low temperatures and gloomy weather… Being one of those people whose morale goes hand in hand with the seasons, I needed to escape the sun. We had first thought of going to the Philippines for a change (we had already gone to Thailand the year before), but when the opportunity of this destination wedding in Thailand presented itself, and moreover on an island we hadn’t visited yet – Koh Samui – and in a place as incredible as the Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort, we didn’t hesitate one second to go back to this country we cherish so much.

      Destination wedding in Thailand

Our two grooms who have decided to celebrate their destination wedding in Thailand have a somewhat atypical history. Indeed, our groom is a pretty Russian woman who went to live in Sydney, in Australia where she met her dear and tender Australian man. They decided to get married in Thailand, the Kingdom of Siam, land of smiles, country where everything is possible.

Destination wedding in Thailand: in paradise with your loved ones

As with most Thai destination weddings, our brides and grooms have offered each other a few days of vacation on this paradise island that is Koh Samui. And the big plus is that they were able to enjoy this vacation with all their guests from Sydney, Australia and Russia. Who has never dreamed of bringing together all their loved ones and sharing a dream holiday with them? Thanks to the destination wedding, this is possible!

Destination wedding in Thailand : Save the date

Even if you find yourself in the destination of your dreams (here, Thailand) To celebrate your destination wedding, you might as well take the opportunity to have a photo session with your partner before the wedding (also called Save the date or engagement session). This will allow you to have unforgettable memories of your couple during this exceptional trip. Moreover, it will also allow you to familiarize yourself with your wedding photographer and to feel more confident in front of his camera on the D-day.

Destination wedding in Thailand : Day after

But that’s not all! After your destination wedding, you can also have a couple photo session (also called day after or trash the dress or honey moon session). This session will allow you to put back on your beautiful outfits that you took so long to choose (ladies, here is your excuse to answer to the infernal and redundant: “a dress you’ll only wear once in your life”) and to take pictures in a different setting than your destination wedding day. For example, if your wedding took place on the beach, why not do the photo shoot in a lush green area? Discuss it with your photographer, he will be able to advise you!

The unfolding of this destination wedding

Anyway, back to the bride and groom! It was a fabulous day for a destination wedding in Koh Samui, Thailand. The Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort overlooked the emblematic emerald sea of Thailand under a bright blue sky. The planning was also ideal. The destination wedding preparations took place on site at the Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort, as well as the ceremony and reception. At sunset time, we photographed the couple session on the private beach of the Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort. A heavenly beach with emblematic palm trees. And to close this dream destination wedding in style, we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display!

Why I recommend Thailand for your destination wedding?

As a destination wedding photographer, I recommend Thailand to celebrate your detination wedding in the first place because the light in this country is absolutely incredible! But that’s not all! The scenery is heavenly and the local people are absolutely adorable which will make your stay even more beautiful.

What I liked about this wedding as a destination wedding photographer?

As a destination wedding photographer, on this detination wedding, I loved the mix of cultures. I think it’s wonderful to see totally foreign nations brought together by the love of two people. It’s really fabulous.

What is my advice as a destination wedding photographer for a destination wedding in Thailand?

For a destination wedding in Thailand, what I advise you, as a destination wedding photographer, is to make the totality of your destination wedding on the same place (from the getting ready to the wedding cake). This day is already quite busy enough for you to add to the car journeys. This will only make you even more stressed out. Another tip, match your witnesses. It allows you to have group photos that are so much more harmonious. See for yourself how beautiful they are.
